Why Do You Sell Life Insurance?

I like to pose this question to everyone I meet in this industry to see how they answer it.

For me, it originally was to have time to spend with my three young daughters with me to the right.

However, I learned after being in the business awhile that you don’t get a whole lot of time to spend outside of work, IF you do your marketing and promotion the way that the home office teaches you to do it…

So I set out on a journey to find ways to do marketing better, and I discovered them.  It made a huge difference in my business but most importantly my life became better because of it.  I don’t miss things like picking apples with my kids in the fall or conferences at school because I’m stuck in the office 80 hours a week anymore.

You may sell life insurance for any number of reasons, but I can guarantee none of them are so that you miss out on your life!  You can easily leverage the internet to create highly qualified, exclusive life insurance leads that flood your office on total autopilot so that you can spend more time doing the things that you enjoy.

Consumer Confidence in Life Insurance Soaring

I just wanted to write a real quick post about an article I read on another site. The author talks about recent surveys that are showing soaring figures of consumer confidence in life insurance.

In particular as seeing life insurance as a viable option for financial planning purposes. People are tired of the Wall Street Casino and just want safe havens where they can grow their money guaranteed.

Now that the time is ripe to generate sales of permanent life insurance, the only question that needs to be answered is “how to get in front of high quality, targeted people”?

Life Insurance Marketing Has Changed Forever…

Today I felt compelled to write about the current state of insurance marketing in general, with an emphasis on life insurance marketing.

When I started in the insurance business (way back in 2003), things were still similar to how they were 20 – 30 years before my time.

All you needed to do to attract all the client you needed was:

1) Get a good location for you office

2) Set up a few centers of influence

3) Make some cold calls

4) Send a few mailers each month

5) Ask for referrals from the people you write

That formula allowed me to add over 300 households per year to my book from ’03-’06.

Fast forward to 2010 and those tried and true methods still work…to a certain degree.  But they simply will not give you the growth that you need to appease the higher ups or provide the income that you want.

What makes it even worse is that people are so much less loyal these days, the amount of time people stay with you shortens every year!

That’s a recipe for insurance agency disaster if I’ve ever seen one.

I speak with agents and advisors all over the country every day.  The overwhelming majority of them know that the answers to these problems are found on the internet.

But they are afraid…

Afraid that it’s too time consuming.

Afraid that it’s too expensive.

Afraid that it’s too complicated.

Afraid of compliance.

I understand this completely as I have walked in your shoes.  Nothing is scarier than the unknown!
